Stoneweg and Varia US Renew Partnership with Arbor Day Foundation through 2022

St. Petersburg, FL- January 31, 2022- Varia US, a Swiss publicly traded real estate company, and its exclusive asset manager Stoneweg US, a real estate investment firm specializing in multifamily acquisitions and developments, today announced the extension of their partnership with Arbor Day Foundation, a 501(c) nonprofit organization committed to planting trees across the country and around the world.
Stoneweg US and Varia US formed their alliance with the environmental champion in 2021, joining over 200 major corporations in the ‘Time for Trees’ initiative and planting 150,000 longleaf pine, spread evenly across the Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and privately owned lands in Texas; both of which are crucial to restoring the longleaf pine ecosystem in the Southeast United States.
“We are extremely grateful for the results and long-term impact our Arbor Day partnership yielded last year,” said Patrick Richard, CEO for Stoneweg US. “As we continue to forge ahead with our sustainability goals, we felt that renewing this partnership was a natural choice in terms of strategic alliances and look forward to continuing the relationship this year.”
"Meaningful partnerships, like we have with Stoneweg US, allow us to create meaningful change in our world," said Dan Lambe, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation. "With Stoneweg US's continued support, we will be one step closer to finishing vital reforestation projects in Florida, Kentucky and Indiana. We're thrilled to be continuing our partnership for another year."
Stoneweg US and Varia US will donate a total of $150,000 to plant 150,000 trees across the longleaf pine ecosystem in Florida, the Cumberland Plateau in Kentucky, and the Wallier Woods in support of bat restoration in southern Indiana. The partnership will be activated on the property level, as it was in 2021, whereby all new and renewed leases will contribute 10 trees to the overarching 150,000-tree planting goal.
“This initiative was very well-received across the portfolio and served as a catalyst for building awareness and support for a cause that we as a Company believe so strongly in,” said Thomas Stanchak, Director of Sustainability. “As a result, our residents are a little savvier about the environment and feel a sense of pride that they are contributing to it in such a meaningful and impactful way.”
