FINANCE & DEVELOPMENT ANALYST

COMPANY OVERVIEW: 

Stoneweg US, one of the nation’s fastest growing multifamily real estate investment and development companies, is currently seeking a Finance and Development Analyst.  Stoneweg US serves as exclusive investment manager of Varia US Properties AG, a Swiss, publicly traded real estate fund (SIX Swiss Exchange ticker: VARN) and also partners with US and international equity investors to acquire and develop multifamily assets in markets with strong population growth and positive trending economic conditions.  The Stoneweg US team challenges the conventions of real estate investment through a research driven, results-oriented approach that has led to the successful deployment of over $380 million of equity and the acquisition of over 11,500 multifamily units since 2016.  The Company plans to remain focused on this aggressive growth strategy for 2020 and beyond. 

 

POSITION:

Based in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg area, the Finance & Development Analyst will support capital market activities across the portfolio.  The Finance & Development Analyst will work closely with the Company’s Development and Structured Finance team while supporting all facets of the business including: Acquisitions, Asset Management, Legal and Finance.  The ideal candidate will be an energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative team-player with a hands-on approach.  This will be an exciting role with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as the Company continues to grow.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loan Origination – support the Debt & Structured Finance team on all financing opportunities including Acquisitions, Developments, and Refinances.

    • Prepare loan requests and maintain Debt Matrix during loan sourcing process.

    • Prepare summary of key loan terms to hand-off to Asset Management upon loan closing.

    • Prepare refinance analysis packages including detailed rent & sale comparable reports, property specific reporting (collateral summary, historical performance, CapEx to date, etc), and internal recommendations of supportable loan amounts and capital market conditions.

    • Assist in tracking the performance of a diverse multifamily portfolio with the goal of identifying refinance opportunities and early exit strategies.

  • Development Investment Analysis – perform financial analysis and due diligence for new development opportunities; assisting in underwriting, cash flow, and sensitivity analysis.

    • Maintain and develop various financial proforma models and standard templates, ensuring quality, accuracy, and focused analytic review.

    • Research and analyses: benchmark economic activity in target markets by tracking rents, sales comparables, operating costs, construction costs, real estate taxes, competitive supply, comprehensive market analysis and economic expansion activity. 

    • Prepare investment materials and analysis to support development team presentations to stakeholders, partners and investors.

  • Research and complete ad hoc projects supporting Stoneweg’s growth as needed. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Real Estate or other related major

  • Strong quantitative skills and established analytical ability

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and reporting.  This position places heavy emphasis on MS Excel and financial underwriting.  The ability to analyze and interpret financial data is critical.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working at a face pace and under tight deadlines

  • Desire to thrive and be successful in a fast-paced, deadline drive, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment

  • Excellent organizational skills required

  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal required

  • Ability to successfully manage projects from inception to completion within required scope and deadlines

  • Strong customer service skills, experience with high-level investors and professionals preferred

  • Ability to efficiently work within team settings but equally capable of working independently

  • Ability to perform multiple assignments without immediate supervision

  • Demonstrate competency for problem-solving and proactively seeking out solutions to potential office and administrative challenges

  • Professional, yet personable attitude that will assimilate to the Stoneweg US culture with ease
