COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE PARALEGAL

COMPANY OVERVIEW: 

Stoneweg US, one of the nation’s fastest growing multifamily real estate investment and development companies, is currently seeking a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal. Stoneweg US serves as the exclusive investment manager of Varia US Properties AG, a Swiss, publicly traded real estate fund (SIX Swiss Exchange ticker: VARN) and also partners with US and international equity investors to acquire and develop multifamily assets in markets with strong population growth and positive trending economic conditions. The Stoneweg US team challenges the conventions of real estate investment through a research-driven, results-oriented approach that has led to the successful deployment of over $500 million of equity and the acquisition of over 18,500 multifamily units since 2016. The Company plans to remain focused on this aggressive growth strategy for 2022 and beyond. 

 

POSITION:

Based in the Tampa Bay region, the Commercial Real Estate Paralegal will work closely with the Company’s Legal and Finance teams to help organize, administer, and assist with the closing process for multifamily acquisition, development, disposition, and financing transactions.  The Real Estate Paralegal will also provide support to other Company departments including: Asset Management, Acquisitions, Development, and Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative team-player who takes a hands-on approach to all tasks. This will be an exciting role with an opportunity to assume additional responsibilities as the Company expands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation and review of purchase and sale agreements, confidentiality agreements, access agreements, professional services agreements, easements, conveyance documents, loan documents, closing checklists, and all other transactional documents

  • Maintain critical dates for all agreements and closings

  • Order, review and analyze title documents, title requirements, title endorsements, and surveys; prepare title objection letters and responses to title objection letters

  • Coordinate and review due diligence materials for transactions, including acquisitions, development, dispositions, and financing

  • Coordinate with transaction teams and outside counsel to form and qualify legal entities and organize the filing of annual reports (corporations, LLCs, LPs and various foreign entities) for transactions and manage corporate books and records for all entities, including officer/director updates and preparing annual minutes, and obtaining EINs

  • Respond to requests for secretary and officer certificates, resolutions, good standing certificates and other corporate documents

  • Assist with the management of any claims against the Company or its affiliates or any properties and coordinate claims with insurance carriers and outside counsel as applicable

  • Create, organize, and maintain investor files

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate

  • Excellent organizational skills with an acute attention to details and nuances

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with special focus on Excel, Outlook and Word

  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects from inception to completion within required scope and deadlines

  • Strong customer service skills, experience with sophisticated investors and professionals preferred

  • Ability to efficiently work within team settings but equally capable of working independently

  • Demonstrate competency for problem-solving and proactively seeking out solutions to potential office and administrative challenges
